Day trip from Iasi to Moldova Republic with Khisinev and Cricova Winery - Private
The territory of Moldova is at the crossroads of Western and Eastern Europe and is inhabited since ancient times. The city of Chisinau, is located, like Rome, on seven hills in proximity of the Bac river. Chisnau is one of the oldest and most important localities in the Republic of Moldova, with beginnings of ancestral, geto-dacic and romanic life, two millennia ago, with ascensions and declines in the troubles of the Middle Ages and the subsequent centuries of the feudal age, with obvious changes of economic and cultural importance during the transformation of the old provincial fair into a modern city.
Price is per person and is expressed in euro (EUR).
Eary in the morning you will meet with the guide and enjoy a day trip in the Moldavian capital, Chisinau. On the way, you will find out about the history of one of Moldova’s most beautiful monasteries. Our first stop will be at one of the oldest and most beautiful monuments in Moldova, Capriana Monastery. Capriana Complex is considered one of the oldest and most valuable monasteries in the Republic of Moldova. For a long time Capriana was the residence of the Metropolitan of Moldova and it was patronized by many Rulers of Moldova including Stefan the Great.
Chisinau was first documented in 1420, but most of it was levelled in WWII and by a tragic earthquake that struck in 1940. They started rebuilding the city in 1950 in Soviet style, and both the center and outskirts are dominated by utilitarian high-rise buildings. On our tour we will discover Chisinau’s main attractions: their own Arc de Triomphe, the 1841 Holy Gates at the center of the city and we will stroll through one of the city’s parks and learn about Prince Stefan, the noble symbol of Moldova's medieval past. We will stop at Russia's national poet Alexander Pushkin tiny cottage, where he lived for 3 years during his exile. The interior is filled with original furnishings and personal items, including a portrait of his beloved Byron.
Next on our itinerary is Cricova Winery, situated at a depth of 50-80 meters, representing a real underground city. Founded in 1952, "Cricova" is the largest producer of sparkling wines according to the traditional method in Moldova, the maturing of the wine being entirely spent in the underground cellars. The "National Wine Cellar", a remarkable collection of legendary wines, both local and foreign, coming from Goering's Wine Collection, including the famous Moselle, Bourgogne, Bordeaux and Porto wines, is preserved at Cricova. The oldest wine of the collection, and the only wine of its kind in the world, is "Easter Jerusalem", produced in one place in 1902.
In this unique place you will have to opportunity to discover the steps to wine tasting and try a selection of the great range of wines. Optionally, you may choose to have an unforgettable lunch in this fantastic place.
